  • 15 Day, 6700 Miles

So this summer me and my dad thought it would be fun to take a west coast trip, starting on the west side of North Carolina. I was on a 95 Katana, and my dad on a 96 Honda ST1100. Here are some pics!

My son and I did the same sort of thing 3 years ago. Were gonna repeat this summer, but things got in the way.

Man, did you not ever get behind the lens, or have someone else take a pic of both of you?

Nice. The 96 ST looks like the same color as my 93.
Whenever I go more than 200 or so miles, I take the ST.
          How was the KAt?

On second look, that 96 looks like a brighter red.
It would't be any fun if it was easy! BUT, it does have to be this much fun!!

StevieB-I did get some pics of both of us, but just threw those on here in a hurry

DayKat-The Kat wasn't as bad as I expected. Luckily we had some friends that do long rides fairly often, and they suggested back braces which were definitely worth it. As far as the bike, it did great. Besides adding oil and tightening the chain i had no other problems out of it.

yeah it was great. STOCK seat, but I did buy an ATV pad at Wal-Mart and strapped it over the seat. It made it about 5800 miles before I completely flattened it out, but it was worth all $25.

That sounds like a nice little bonding experience. You should make it an annual thing now..

for sure, I think we are going to plan a trip to go up north, and maybe into canada? And i am already missing sturgis, even though it's a cruiser rally...

Dad let you ride the ST at all?

Looks like a blast! Wish I had had such a relationship with my dad!

                      Cheers,

Looks like an awesome trip! I would love to take a road trip like that one day! If you ever out in the Greensboro area, pm me if you want to go riding (up in the mountains..hanging rock, route 66, tuggles gap, etc).
It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you ride.

A quick question for you long distance riders... Being that MC tire life is 6-8K miles, how are you guys logging so many miles without changing tires?
