  • Anybody run a yellow bulb?

I am thinking of running one yellow/one clear.

    Your thoughts?

why cut down light output...I would go for something as bright as I could safely use!

Don't fool around with your lights....unless you are IMPROVING them

      To be seen

      It is an improvement.

Drivers wmay notice the yellow during the day a bit more.

I don't do a lot of night riding and I figure it would be the best of both worlds.

A high output on one side and a yellow on the other.

Check with the laws in your particular area about restrictions with certain types of bulbs. Especially with 1 colored.

If you're looking to increase "noticablility" during the day , get a headlight modulator . Turns your headlight into a strobe light ... kinda . DEFINATELY will get you noticed way more .

              +1

Higher output headlight bulbs, emergency reflective tape on the forks, headlight modulator, loud clothing -- everything possible to make you stand out better and give people a better chance of separating you from the background...

But people who aren't looking for you still won't see you. Car drivers sometimes get what is known as situational blindness -- they don't see you even when looking right at you, simply because their brain isn't looking for a motorcycle, it's looking for a car or a truck. There used to be a good thread on it here, but it since disappeared (had some study results).

              Cheers,

the yellow bulb seems to be a new trend im noticing with sport bikes. they all have one yellow bulb. its not very visible to me in the day. no more than normal lights just seems to be another 'cool' thing to do.

like i see most cars running with fog lights on now days too. drives me nuts, theres no fog you dont need those dam lights on!

You talking about foglights or driving lights? Foglights put out a very broad light over a short distance -- driving lights are like pencil beams, shooting a long way down the road in a very narrow pattern. I agree, anyone running solely on foglights outside the fog is a frijjin ikiot.

                    Cheers,

Considering the price of the modulator, I figured the yellow would be a lower price alternative (although I would agree, the modulator IS more effective)

The fact that someone with fog lights on drives you crazy shows you DO notice them more than normal lights.

                      Thanks for the advice.

The ones that kill me are the Bush/Rally lights... Bright full-area lights mounted on a rail over the cab of a pick-up or on the bumper of a jacked-up truck, so the lights right at eye-height on a motorcycle or sedan. Like I really need six or eight 130 watt bulbs burning into my retina's just because Joe-Schmoe is night blind!

Dude , that's CRAP ! If someone doesn't notice normal headlights , they should NOT be driving in the first place . You didn't see the car/truck/motorcycle when all evidence points to you being able to EASILY see them ? You lose your liscense , you should not be driving . Why do we keep covering up this problem ?
