If I took this tail, had a profesional welder take the current tail off my 05 750 kat, and put this one on. Could that work?? Is it possible?? What about insurance?? Warranty?? Recomended?? Not Recomended?? Safe?? Any input. I really want to try to put a GSXR tail on my kat. I've seen it done on a pre 98. Now I want to do it on a post 98. Any feed back, this may be a winter project.

well you cant weld alum to steel so youll have to cut off the old kat tail and make some bracket out of steel weld them to the frame and bolt the subframe to that. -
Not quite as easy as it looks. The mounting for the GSXR subframe is much higher than the katana. The katana subframe sits low and has a deep seat, the gsxr subframe sits higher up but has a shallow seat. Basically, when you go to mount the gsxt tail to your bike lower subframe rail of the gsxr part will need to be at about the same height as the upper subframe rail on the katana meaning.....
Where does the upper part of the GSXR subframe mount to as it;'s dangling in midair? A new upper mount must be created on the katana frame that must be very sturdy/stout and take into account a place for the tank to bolt to...tricky, but it can be doneComment

Waltari, you are obviously the one who made me think about this. Your bike is sweet and original. I know that if I can figure out how to do this that it won't be totally original, but it will be SSWWWEEEEET!
I did notice that the subframe on the Katana sits lower. Where do you live Waltari? I would like to get a chance to see how you did yours. I've seen the pics you've posted, but I would like to see the weld points.Comment

Thanks! That thread was really helpful about what kind of things I need to consider. Now I don't know if I really want to put a gsxr tail on since it has been done. I want something unique, but the gxsr do have a sweet A@#.Originally posted by crazymofothis has been covered recently...
