  • repainting the can....

I have removed the pipes (89 kat 600 4 into 1) and am sending them to be sand blasted. But now have 2 questions regarding the paint to use for the pipes and the paint to use for the can. The can is an old Hindle with the gold name plate and I plan to tape off the plate and the chrome ends and just paint the can. But what paint to use ( hi temp of course) and do I cover it with a clear coat after or a dull coat?

    any suggestions or ideas.?

on the pipes use high heat enamel. for the cans it doesn't matter since they won't reach paint damaging temps.

Thanks. I painted the can with 2 coats of high heat paint silver and then painted again with 3 coats of heat paint gloss black. I will leave it 7 days to cure before mounting.

I am certain that you will meet with success. I scratched mine in a highway high side and it looked bad. So I lightly sanded it. Then I sprayed it with flat black heat paint, the paint used for barbecue pits. It went on fine, looked good, and it stayed on. I was proud.
