  • My 1st Ltr bike

    I've been riding for only 4 years with about 30,000 miles under my belt, been through 3 Kats (2- 600 and 1- 750), 1 SV650s, 1 500 Ninja and about 4 250 Ninjas.
Sold my 750 Kat a few weeks ago and yesterday I got my first liter bike a 2004 R1.
Just came back from my first local ride on the R1 and the first thing that came to mind is how comfortable the Kats are.

Her are some pics of the R1 it has 9500 miles on it.

        Nice bike.

Youll quickly realize all the previous bikes you owned were easy to put a lot of miles on. Good luck putting 30k miles on that R1. lol I had one and couldnt take more than 50 miles on it without having to stop. Id take my kat over my old r1 anyday
Ride like there's no tomorrow!!! You never know when your going to run out of "tomorrows"!!!

Sweet looking R1 - but many of those SS bikes are not very man-marble friendly at all.

Great looking bike. I had a couple riding buddies in OR that had 04's in the grey/silver color scheme. I have got to ask, how did you manage to go through 9 other bikes in the past 4 years? Hopefully they were just sold for some reason and not crashed, otherwise you may be in over your head with a liter bike. It's obvious you didn't sell most of them due to being bored, otherwise you wouldn't have replaced the Ninja 250 4 times, or had 3 Katanas.

No never gone down, just sold the bikes. If I'm able to make some $$ on my bikes I will sale them. The 250 Ninjas are always in demand and there was always someone willing to give me a couple hundred dollars more than I paid for them so I sold them and bought another. Same thing with the Kats sold the first and the following day I found a newer one for less then what I had sold mine so I bought it.
If someone offers me $5,400 for the R1 right now ... I'll have to sale it

So, I've always wanted to ask someone from a Katana 600, Seat of the pants feeling the differnce power wise between 600 KAT and R1? How fast power comes on? Wheelie first gear? Just the basics.
                            FROM WORK:
"let's just say you are my favorite.I like a response back on the same day from work issues, not like a work husband who kind of heard a request and mentions it weeks later. just damn"

Any sport bike will wheelie in first gear if you throttle on too abruptly or drop the clutch. Hell can do it through third gear pretty easily. Power comes on fast for just about any sport bike when compared to the docile nature of the Kat. Also easier to throw sport bikes around due to their handling aspects. Also easier to dump a sport bike as most actions in the throttle hand are seen immediately in the reasr tire.

Wanna get really hectic then grab a 1K V twin sport bike with all of their torque down low. It was nearly impossible for me to keep the front end down on my SV1K...
