  • pre 98 fairings.....

    Hey guys.. i'm new to this and a rookie kat rider i have a 97 kat 600 and its my first bike but i'm no rook.. grew up on dirt bikes up to 250CC been riding for about 3 months so far and no uh ohhhsss YET..... but my plastic is a lil less that perfect and previous owner laid it down on both sides and i want to replace to whole fairs anyone know where i can get some used and not cracked that i can just have painted or brand new ones that cost less than 1000 for some blanks...?? I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP GUYS!!!!

    cheapest and best option... repair the ones you have with abs cement for the cracks/missing pieces, then a flexible filler to smooth it out. Probably less than $50 for all supplied needed prior to paint for your full set. Lots of threads on how to do that in this section.

    If that's too much work, then you have 3 options...

    Ebay for used OEM... good luck on not broken ones.

    Maier ABS plastic aftermarket fairings... do a search in google, there are several sites that sell em. Not perfect, drill your own holes, but workable.

    Air-Tech fiberglass. These would be my last choice of all options.

      hey thanks a lot... so i would use that to fill in all the scratches ? the only crack i have is in the upper right fairing. could i just but a blank and have a body shop fill in the cracks and just paint? I'm fairly new to this. thanks so much

        This is where I'm going to say ... use the search button...

        There are lots of plastic repair threads and how toos... think there are even a couple that are stickied at the top of this board.

        Read them, they will explain, and I won't need to repeat things that have been covered in detail with pics even...

          I was in the same boat i actually found the same bike on craigslist with a blown motor. using the fairings from that now this weekend finally paint!!!!
          good luck!!!

          RIP to my 1995 custom yzf 600 she finally fell over this weekend. i dont think i can ever match the paint job on it.
