    Elena Myers wins AMA Supersport race

    A while back KR did a poll on if there was any woman that could break through to ride in MotoGP. A number of folks gave Elena Meyers the thumbs-up, myself included. This past weekend she won her first AMA supersport event at Infinion. She is 16 years old and had attended her high school prom the night before the race.
    Teddy and I watched her at Mid-Ohio in 07 and 08 during Kawasaki track days we attended and we could see then she was "special". She is now on a Suzuki. You can read the story on the speed tv website...

      Good for her.....Do we need to start a count down? Day until she's Legal and we can all drool?

        I'm the one that started that poll and I read about Elena yesterday. That was awesome! Major props to her. Some folks were saying she was lucky. BS. She put herself in a position to win and a win is a win. 16? I repeat, AWESOME!!

        Saw a couple of interviews, too. Seems like a really cool kid!

                    Man, that pic is like sooooo last year.

                    That's an older pic when she was still running the Ninja 650r... now she's riding a GSXR 600 Suzuki.








                    I think it's awesome!

                    Now... next year we'll see a head to head for first between her and KK right?

                      Most of todays riders (such as Elena) were born to ride. Parent, or Parents, ie: the Haydens, had their own sucesses in the sport. Children started out as paddock brats, riding their mini bikes or moto-x bikes, etc. We see it at every track we ride at. You point 'em in the right direction, and they just figure it out. The best thing you can do to help a kid is lots of positive reinforcement and to nip bad riding technics in the bud before they become a habit. The hardest part of teaching an adult is that they possess the bad habits and they won't check their ego at the registration desk.

                          I would show that to my wife to try and convince her to let me get our daughter (named Elena, btw) a pocket rocket....but I think it would seal the deal in the wrong direction...

                              I'll say this though.. Good thing it's motorcycle racing. If I have to see that Dina Fitzpatrick (whatever) one more time!


                              Talk about over exposed..
                              While Elena might end up on a Wheaties box, I don't think I'll see her in everything from Maxim to the coupon section of the paper.

                              I fixed the spelling in the thread title BTW..
