Gave it to my brother. He needed a car.

And ya I know hemikat... actually dynamat doesnt really reduce the outside vibration noise, its more of an internal dampening to increase the bass inside the car...I put it on my friends honda accord and it didnt do chit. Waste of $120+ imho

I think my cadillac has 2 1/2 bulk packs of extreme in it. Inner and outer door panels, the firewall, the floors, under the back seat. Never did the roof (though I should have, because after the rest of it was done, that became the noise maker). I love dynamat for making a car quieter on the road, but I discourage using it to get rid of heavy rattles like that. 2 part expanding foam and self-tapping screws are prime for getting rid of heavy rattling. Dynamat is great for reducing strange resonance, though, if you've got a back deck that likes to start humming along with the tune...

I worked for Dynamat for 4 years and ran the R&D department for 2 of those years.... It works... Ive been to sound competitions where cars would hit 180db and you could barely hear a sound outside of the car, right next to it. Ive seen windshields explode becuase the sound it so loud.

It changes the frequency in which the metal vibrates. But yes, like L&L said, if you have metal on metal vibration good ole spray foam works.

Pioneer's competition truck was the first to break 180, back in 06.

180 is thoroughly out of reach for most people, though. I've never seen a daily driver that got out of the mid 160's (not that it's impossible, but I've never seen it). Just the amount of power it takes to get to 180 makes it unreasonable to really drive the vehicle (imagine your gas mileage when you'd spinning 6 alternators or so...).

no ****... whats the regulations for that division? Is it ported? If so what kind of ports? I know its obtainable (portwars comes to mind) but with certain regulations it would be impossible.

We (Dynamt) built a Civic with 10 - 12 inch Bazook subs ad only hit 155db.. 180 is man loud... and expensive.

--Hahah I just looked, I still have the Pionneer 180db class T-shirt!

I think he was in the unlimited class, if I remember right.

I got into the 160's (at the dash) with 2 Solo-X 18's with enormous power behind them, and a port big enough that I could climb through it to check the wiring at the subs! My ex-manager's Explorer. He later pulled the whole setup out, and sold it to a local doper, who then donated it to the local PD after he got busted. What a shame.

160's are unbearably loud, 150's are still way too much to enjoy. Especially because, most of the time, to hit the big numbers, you have to sacrifice your smooth frequency response. The "one-note wonder" effect. At this point, quality has gotten more important than quantity. I long ago sold my Solobarics and my ZR amps, but I've still got a set of RS-5's in the doors, and my Eclipse deck.

I really don't know IASCA's rules..... I never really liked them that much. DB Drag seemed so much cooler. Probably typical unlimited class rules, though..... just keep everything behind the B pillar, other than that, have at it.

Thus, why I got rid of my kickers and got these. Its basically the only reason jl can actually sell audio equipment at the prices that they charge (that and rich stupid people). I mean... ya being the loudest one on the block is nice but if half the songs you want to hear dont work and the other half sound like ****...whats the point?

Personally, I think RE audio is great... best setup ive had so far... If only I had a larger ported box... .... and a better alternator. Ive also heard great things about alpine type R's but never had em.

oh... and btw... if you guys have a box building software program let me know... im lookin to build one the width of my trunk (gotta measure it) and uhh... 2cu ft each woofer @33 (or 32 I cant remember) hz.... too many variables right now but if you do I can go check. Thanks!

After working at Dyamat Im kinda burnt out from car audio, I through some Bostome Accustics in my Moutaineer with my stock head unit and it perfectly fine with me. My best friend is probaly the greatest car stereo builder in the world, he won all the championships in the early 90's, so if I need a stereo or loud music fix I go listen to one of his or his kids cars.

Let me check, I had a some software that would tell you how and where to port a box, but Im not sure if I still have it or not. Most of my boxes were custom and made to be hidden, so I kinda just crossed my fingers they were big enough.
