stock signal generator ? valve adjustment

i've lost my stock signal generator. i kept it just for the purpose of
positioning the cams for a valve adjustment. but it's no where to be found.

i don't remember if there was T mark on the Factory 5 degree advancer.
is it better to just find TDC from the piston ?

The advanced generator is only about 5mm turned from the original. If you already have the valve cover off, you should be able to see the lines on the end of the cams. Just use the signal generator to get it close, and then look at the cams to get alignment. If I remember correctly from when I did mine, the marks on the cams should be in line with the top of the head casting for your measuring.

You can find TDC from the piston but if you go too far, you have to go all the way back around again. I would think that looking at the lines on the end of the cams would be the easiest way to do it.

I am sure someone more experienced doing these adjustments will speak up soon.
