  • New Kat from Chi-Town

I just put a deposit on a 96 Kat with 5600 original miles. I will be picking it up
tomorrow morning. Looking forward to making some changes and learning about
    the possibilities of this machine.

Thanks for the welcome. I just picked it up this morning. Brakes are a little squeaky, but other than that, it runs and rides smooth. Signing up for my motorcycle class right now. My first mod is getting rid of that purple and updating those awful mirrors.

You'll find that the bunny ears are ugly as sin but, the view is better than after market mirrors. Keep your head on the swivel.

I've been enjoying the heck out of this thing. Had a bit of an issue with the ignitor and cabs, but got it running late last August. I've painted the wheels black and seat black, added the decals, and just keep it clean. The riding season is short in Chicago, but I have manged to put 17xx miles on it.

Great looking Kat, congrats. Squeaking is usually just dirt/dust/grease/etc on the pads and/or rotor. A good cleaning of the pads and rotors will usually eliminate that noise unless, of course, your pad sare worn out and need replacing.

Enjoying riding 12 days straight and my first spill. I was making a left and a suv tried making a left from the middle lane and hit me. The driver took off and my Kat is now damaged. I was able to walk amd ride away. Looks like the Kat will be down til I determine the amount of damage.
