  • Newbie Katana owner from Vancouver BC.

    Hey all,

Newbie here, to the site and to street riding.

I just picked up a 1990 750 Katana this week for my first street bike. I did have about 4 years of dirt biking experience as a teen, so finally getting around to getting my street license and picking up the Katana hasn't been too much of a stretch.

Thankfully I got the 'stupidness' out of my system as a teen on my dirtbike.

I picked up the bike from one of my instructors at the MST course I took. He'd upgraded to a Gixxer and this had been parked since last fall.

Came with lots of extras, tank bag, factory hard shell saddle bags, cover, K&N air filter, Corbin seat, rear seat bag, stainless steel brake lines, rewired and much brighter signal lights in the rear, plus flush mount ones in the front. He even threw in a heated vest and the shop manual.

It does need new tires and those are going on tomorrow morning. YAY.

I have some other questions for the mechanical forum and will be posting there soon.

Welcome to KR man, now you'll see that riding a dirtbike and a streetbike is a completely different thing.

Alrighty, I'm game, but can you tell me the difference in riding feel? Better grip? Smoother ride? What are the benefits? What apspect ratio should I go with? to a 160/60 -17?

The shop didn't have the rear in today but they did put on the front. So I still have time to change the order before next weekend.

              Thanks for the advice!
