I currently have an 05 Boulevard M50 and am looking for something different. I'm torn between a Katana 600 or SV650. For those of you who have ridden both, can you tell me the main differences.

    Thanks, Kyle.

I'm more interested in an upright riding position. I know the SV is, but unsure how the Katana is.

biggest difference in between the kat and the sv is vtwin and inline... the sv has alot of tourque on the low end... but loses on the top end ... the kat is more broad in its power band... tho its sweet spot usually in between 5k up to about 9k... and as far as the ergonomics go... u'll just have to sit on both of them and see which one feels better... they're pretty comprable in that area

Welcome, the Kat is also heavier than the sv.

welcome, i would say the SV is more for sport riding vs the Kat, its lighter and more flickable. kat for sport touring, comfortable but heavy.

^^^ I agree. Just depends on what type of riding you do more. If you like shorter rides and are looking for somethingmore akin to a SS bike, get the SV. If you like longer rides and don't need to go crazy on the twisties or a track, get a Kat.

Don't get me wrong, the Kat will still corner like crazy in the hands of a skilled rider.

Oh yeah, welcome to the site.
