It's definitely a great choice for a few years before you think about upgrading to a supersports. Many of the people on here have happily had their Kat for many many years. Good luck with your licence and ask lots of questions while you're here and make an informed decision.

Welcome. I just started riding, I have a 750. Just practice off or main roads, like an empty parking lot. I must of road around my little block for hours a day, for about a week before I felt brave enough to go further.Comment

Hello and welcome to KR! I started on a 2000 Kat 600. Good bike for me to start on. It is not as fast as an SS bike, but you have to remember that it still is a sport bike and it can and will get away from you. If you have never ridden before I recommend a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Beginners course. Well worth the money and it will save you the hassle and scratches of learning on your own. Look into it, it could even save your life.Think safe, ride safe.Comment
