Thanks everyone for the welcomes! I appreciate it.
One of the heavy duty mechanics that I work with got the filter off for me last night. There was already a Suzuki filter on there BTW but the oil didn't look like it had been changed in forever. I put oil in the filter and the ring and have put it in place now. I hand tightened it and used a wrench to tighten 1/2 turn. Thanks mdstriker! I am ordering my own filter wrench right now.Comment

They make an adjustable filter wrench it goes on a ratchet and has 3 claws that tighten as you turn it to the left that is what I use on mine it works great. You can buy them almost anywhere including walmart or any auto parts store.- 04' Kat 600 (my reliable bike)
