  • Impulse Buy

Hi folks Wanted to say hello I had an impulse buy and got a 2003 katana with 9500 miles for 1300 dollars. It needs quite a bit of work but is in running condition. I am going to service the bike and change the tires (ordered thanks to feedback from this site), give it a thoruugh cleaning (its been stored 2 years) and use it as a commuter. The project begins next weekend. Here is a photo of it naked in my garage. Have all plastics but they are scratched up.

    Thanks for the site!

    Kapp

It will be sparking clean and running great the next photos i post in a few weeks.

Thanks it was one of those please take this out of my garage buys. If the guy had cleaned it and just put the fairing back on he could have asked a lot more. It really just needs TLC and hours of cleaning and polishing. While it is apart now Ill clean the carbs, check the valves, adjust the clutch(its off) synch and change all the fluids, even the forks. Battery was new but run down its holding a charge now nicely. Lotsa work to do but thats why i bought it.

Well the thought of flipping this certainly has entered my mind but I also need a bike since I sold my KTM enduro. This bike was so cheap I can afford to keep it and get a dirt bike on the money i saved which, as we all know, 2 bikes are better than 1.

It was an interesting negotiation. I think the guys wife has had it with him. He was one of those guys who didnt finish things and the wife wanted this out of his garage. Cant wait to tear into it but it will have to be next weekend as my plate is full. I'll take pics once I service it and clean it. The dremel has its work cut out for it this bike needs a lot of cosmetic TLC. Tires should be here in a couple days. Wish I had a parts manual, I know I am missing some minor fastners and such.

Well, I'll speak of the reliability....my 05 600 has 49,3++ miles on it already and I haven't done anything but normal maintanence. I know yours is a 750, but the reliability is there.. Great Find !!!
