Hi!
I just recceived a message from a rider from a different discussion group who noticed I'm a Katana rider and sent me here.
I'm based in Palos Verdes, California. It's about 25 miles south of Los Angeles. My ride is a 1988 1100 FJ. I bought it in Decemer 2004 when my old GS 750 was showing signs of unreliability. Having riden a Yamaha FJ 1200 for six seasons back home in Ontario, Canada, getting on the Katana seemed very familiar. I really like the bike. While the fairing is pretty ratty, the engine had had only 20,000 miles on it when I bought it. I'm slowly (my budget for restoration is pretty small) fixing it up.
The question that brought me to this list was about the clock. I took off the instrument panel this weekend and removed what appears to be a dead clock. It seems to be the original OMRON clock. The dealer said that a new OEM model wouold cost $208. Any ideas from fellow riders of old Katanas would be welcome. I took the back of the clock off and it looks very clean inside.
Thanks
Jamie
