  • Yet another Hello from Ontario Canada

Hello all. Just joined the forum as I am totally new to Kats. Just purchased a 2004 750 to replace my tired '87 FZ750. I really do love the bike thus far and I'm looking forward to doing some of the many mods I've already read about (although it took me about 20 minutes to figure out what some of you meant by "the Shovel"!! LOL

And thus: my first of potential many newbie questions ... how does one go about removing the shovel??

Anyway, I'm situated in Grimsby Ontario (not far from Niagara Falls).

    Thanks a'bunch.

Heya chachi, tell joanie we said hi!

removing the shovel ispretty easy.. just take a dremmel or hack saw and she'll come right off. then all you need is a creese bracket off ebay or a competitionwerks fender eliminator kit, or just make a bracket yourself, and then get some leds or clear alternatives signals and ur all set.

Welcome to KR! To remove the "shovel" get a hacksaw or reciprocating saw (Sawzall) and get to cutting. I would get a fender eliminator kit first or make one like some of the folks here have. You will need it to mount the tag and turn signals.

Thanks ... Joanie fell off the original 87 FZ750 (too much junk in the trunk anyway).

I'll look into your suggestions and keep you posted.

          Thanks again.

Holy crap, do you guys in Ontario have a recruitment both or somethin'?

But as always...WELCOME!!! I used a Dremel tool on mine..just had to be careful not to melt any extra plastic or set something on fire due to the high rev rate.

Wow woobie, you're just down the road.

Been up and down park st. and headed west on ridge road a few times. Out in the country past Vineland is nice, and that twisty bit on #14 past Smithville is cool. Did that one a few weeks ago heading to Fisherville (past Cayuga) to see a buddy. It was still pretty cold out, but couldn't wait for the weather.

                              Welcome!

I used air tools to get rid of my shovel. I know it prolly wasn't nessecary, but air tools are fun. Just watch out for flying bits of semi-melted plastic. They can burn a bit when they hit your head.
