Greetings all.
Ya know, if you had told me this morning that I would be a Kat owner now, I'd say your were crazy. However, (in some really strange twist of fate) I now have a '96 Kat. It was dropped at low speed and needs a few repairs and some tuning up here and there, but more on that later.
I've been looking for a 150cc scooter for a week or so now so I was cruising craigslist. Nothing seemed to be panning out and what some people wanted for a used scooter I deemed as too much. (Over $1200.) Well, I happened upon the Kat and thought, hmm... a bit more than I wanted to spend, but it's a KAT, for crying out loud! (Wanted one for years...) But the wife will never go for this idea... So I mentioned it and the price ($1200) and she said, "Well, it's a Katana and its cheap. Get it." Wives can be the coolest sometimes... (Considering the fact that I have a 2k Ranger, a '67 VW Microbus and a 59 VW Ghia and only one of them runs enough to be deemed reliable. Guess which...) So I called the dude, asked some questions, made the deal, sent the deposit, picked up the bike (on its side on a trailer.... yikes!) got it home and off the trailer ASAP, turned and drove back to Titusville to return the trailer he let me borrow (heck of a nice guy...) and came back and joined KatRiders. Whew! My friend (A Gixxer guy) came over and took a look at it. Said it was in decent shape overall and suggested a few fixes to work on tomorrow. Now I'm sitting here eating some much needed food and telling the story. Sorry it's so long.
The pics I have are from the CL ad I saw. Kinda scary, but not too bad. I'll take more tomorrow.

It was dropped at low speed supposedly and front sprocket cover was cracked really bad and some fluid leaks occurred. The exhaust pipe on that side has a crease in it as well and the fairing was scuffed really bad, but not cracked. Overall not too bad I feel for an easily repairable (I hope) Kat.
Anyway, sorry for the long first post, but I'm pretty stoked on this.
Hoping to learn a lot an contribute what I can,
