Hello all. I’m a long term rider. I started out super simple with a 450 Honda Night hawk, more years ago than wish to think about. Next up was a Suzuki 700 ES, which lead me to the drag strip. That lead to building my first drag bike. I built a GS 1100 ES and it ran 9:40s in the NHRA super gas 9:90 class. Life changed and more then a decade late I bought my first Katana 750. Sadly,I was force to sell it, because I had no place to keep it. Now, two decades later I bought my BMW S 1000 RR. Please don’t hate me for that. So, why join a Katana group? Well, as it turns out my brother the copycat bought a 1989 Katana an after putting 9K on the clock he stuffed it into his basement for 30yrs. So, last weekend I ask him to sell it to me for my daughter to ride or to turn it into a track day bike. After pulling the tank and carbs to free throttle blades, slides, choke values, as well as cleaning bowls and jets, she now runs. I’m in hopes to save the carbs, a few runs on the road will hopefully clean them up for a good smooth idle. As for my sign in of Van Winkle it think most would pick up on the idea that I like to rip around........ thanks for the invite.

Welcome to KatRiders Van. Since I have been working with BMW for the better part of 18 years I have nothing against BMW's. I have ridden the 2019 S1000RR and a few months ago got to ride the 2020 S1000RR, Oh my lord the new 2020 is a whole different beast, BMW has defiantly improved with this one. I wouldn’t suggest test riding one unless you want to buy one.

Hi Zuki Fred
I have the 2016 and find it to be a great bike. I saw a 2019 few weeks ago all decked out with the high end goodie. 24k to buy ouch...... I know the 19s are up on power to 205hp. What’s new and diff on the 2020? I bought my bike after seeing the Isle of Man races, didn’t know BMW made in-line 4s. They do good here in the US on the track, but not in FIM or MOTO Europe. Which makes me sad. I almost bought a busa until I saw the s1000rr. I hope the others on the site don’t get to mad for us not talking much about Katanas.Last edited by Van winkle; 07-09-2019, 11:03 AM.
