This just might be my solution for better wind management for my touring trips.

I've been toying with the idea of buying their regular Madstad brackets, designed for the Suzuki Vstrom, and modifying it on my Katana. Maybe now I don't have to.

On the topic of wind management, I saw this in a magazine and got interested. Too bad they dont make one for our bike. One could possibly modify one from another bike though...

Greetings Bikers!


I'm proud to announce that we're finally ready to start sharing the joy known as the MadStad RoboBrackets adjustable windshield system!


We are putting on sale pre-production systems which simply means that we are making these brackets by hand in our R&D shop. They will fit and function just like the final production versions only they won't be quite as perfect in appearance. Once they are installed you would have to look closely to tell the difference, but for this reason we are going to offer them at a 25% discount on entire systems. The windshields, however, will be factory perfect; we can't make those ourselves.


Before I give you the link and pricing, let's go over the basics. RoboBracket systems have three components:

• The base (or stock) shield. Our versions will be made by Zero Gravity, a quality name you all know. They will be thicker than most factory and aftermarket shields and will also be cut down shorter for strength.

• The RoboBrackets. They come in pairs (left and right side) and when purchased with complete systems, the windshields will already have mounting holes pre-drilled.

• The front shield. This is your new main shield, fully adjustable for height, angle and distance from the rider. Several different shapes will be available, matched to the look of your bike. These will not be made by Zero Gravity at this time, but we have other quality shield companies producing these custom designs.

You can purchase any one, two or all three components. You can mix and match the front shield shapes and if you have a bike that is not pictured on my web site, you can send me a frontal photo of your bike and I'll send it back with several shield shape overlays so you can get a ‘virtual' view of what that shield might look like on your bike. Unless you order a complete system, the shields will come as blanks, meaning no pre-drilled holes. We can provide templates to help you out, or you can experiment with the mounts as you choose.


RoboBrackets will come in bare metal (good for most dual-shield systems) but will also come in black for a few dollars more. We have to send them out to be black zinc plated so that takes a couple of extra days. For bikes like the Can-Am Spyder where the brackets mount to a black surface, black will be the standard included in any package.Those of you DIY (do-it-yourself) folks, you need to tell us what bike you plan on mounting these to. You may need a thicker base shield which possibly can be special ordered, and we might need to do a custom bend on your bracket mounting tabs. Our brackets normally come with mounting tabs angled at 70 degrees to match most screen curvatures. Some sport bikes will have sharply curved screens and we'll need to alter the tab angle. It's not a biggie, we just need to know.


Lead time is going to be a couple of weeks. I can make the brackets within a couple of days, but Zero Gravity and my other shield makers aren't that quick. I didn't pre-order because I don't know what all of you out there are going to want, but once I know I can start stocking certain models.


Now, for the pricing. As individual components:
Base shield, heavy duty: $119.95
RoboBrackets: $119.95
Front Shields: $119.95

As Packages:

Two-Piece System (brackets and either shield): $199.95
Three-Piece System (brackets and 2 shields): $299.95

Me too, so far I haven't received them.

They have made arrangements with Zero Gravity to make a thicker SR, stock replacement, windshield. I believe the email said 4mm. This way if the OEM shield is not up the the task of handling the brackets and the extra shield, then the thicker one should.

I order a set of brackets to fit a Suzuki Vstrom windshield because I bought it with the intention of buying their regular Madstad bracket and modifying it to work on the Kat in the very same way as the RoboBrackets do now.

I emailed Mark at Madstad and there's a delay on a certain part. It maybe a couple more weeks until I get them.
