  • Motor Oils sugestion? Synthetic perhaps?

    Guys,

After about 10 years of not running, I am reviving my Kat, it is an '82 with 5600 original miles. First thing I am doing is changing the motor oil and filter, but I thought, maybe a synthetic oil will perform better? I looked here for some info, but could find it. Your help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

Hello JB, you know I use synthetic on my newer bikes but on my older ones I still use the old dead dinosaur stuff. I just make sure it's oil for motorcycles.

How about some pics of that old school Kat...

Plus 1... no synthetic motor oil.

Just some info, either is fine. Synthetic oil acts like a detergent and will remove deposits from the oil passages so, when switching from Dino oil to synthetic you should change the oil at 500 miles or so. It will be dark at that point. After that, run like normal.
