  • Modern tires in stock sizes?

Looking for some new rubber for my 82 Katana 1100. I want a radial sport-touring tire with an aggressive tread but in the stock 3.50-19" and 4.50-17" sizes. I've found a few cruiser tires (some with white walls!) to fit the 19" front wheel but I'm looking for more performance oriented rubber.

    Any thoughts?

Rear rim is maxed out at 130 unfortunately... it's why most guys swap Gixxer wheels on their Kats and slap on a 180 rear. Front is a 110/90-19.

        Mis-type and the rear is a 3.5 17"?.... But then a 3.5 17 rim will fit up to a 150/60.... hrm...

(check fitment guide) Are your rims actually 1.85 19", and 2.5 17"?

Anyways... there are several styles offered by Continetal tires that will fit. You can find all of them by checking the fitment guide on their website by selecting the bike you have...

Sorry for the confusion Krey, the stock tire sizes are 3.50-19 front and 4.50-17 rear. The rims appear to be at least 1" narrower than the stock tires so you're probably correct with your width guesstimates.

Did a quick check on the Continental website, the ContiGo tires have the look that I'm after. Have to get some prices... too bad Tire Rack doesn't deal in bike tires!

          Thanks Krey for your help.

Exc. I can get them. Just need to know exactly the sizes you want. Should be able to make it a good deal for you. At any rate let us know how things go. It is hard sometimes finding newer tires in sizes that fit the older kats.

Aaahh, I understand now... I'm used to everyone talking rims in inches and tires in mm, that kinda threw me off. My bad.

And glad you were able to find what you needed.

No worries, the tires are just so old they're pre-Metric system!
