Got me a toothbrush, some fishing line, and some carb cleaner. Just tore into my carbs to give them a once over and of course... I got one stripped bowl screw. I now remember them getting wopped out and saying I'll worry about it next time.... Well its next time and I got a headache on my hands. Once I get this one out, I will be replacing all the screws.

Vise grip the screw and twist it out. . Or cut a slot in the screw.

there were actually 3 that were stripped. i got 2 out with vice grips but the third was being blocked by the connecting rail. i sacrificed a torx bit. Hammered it in, grabbed the 8 pound hand sledge and used my "handy dandy" (thats what i call my hand held impact driver cuz, well, its a handy dandy item to have in your toolbox!!!) with some light taps and it came out ok. Big hammer/little taps > small hammer/hard hits, every time. Its all about inertia baby! Either way, they are open and I have some screws to replace. .... and a torx bit.

At first glance, I see rust deposits in the bowls (obviously) The jets are tarnished as they have been sitting dry for a while, gas lines are gone, they were cheap o clear tube from the hardware store. I plan to get reinforced fuel lines this year but I would really like clear lines as seeing gas flow helps troubleshooting on the side of the road. Ol betty hasnt let me down in a long time but i like to prepare for the worst. All the orings look pretty good except my dumb ass already lost one of the orings for the vacuum ports. Needles had some gunk on em, but it wiped right off. Im hoping the float bowl gaskets will be good still but in my experience, those go bad semi frequently with disassembly. There is black gunky rings around the butterflies on the intake side that need a good cleaning. All in All, not too bad.

So, the fishing line idea is great! I could definitely feel dirty spots in the pilot circuits. There were parts where I really had to wiggle the fishing line through, then after a few in outs, it would slide right through. On two of the circuits, small black specs were stuck to the fishing line when I pulled it out.

Just picked up some float bowl screws from the spare parts room at work. They should work perfect. And they have a better/bigger/deeper head on them so they should be less likely to strip out.

I never did find that damn little o ring. Hoping I can find one that will do the trick at the local hardware store.

If you actually found blockage in the pilot screws, I would immediately dip them proper. I still remember back to my first thread regarding my carbs, I did alot of reassembling for nothing.

It really wasnt blockage, it was just sticky. I haven't reassembled them yet. I don't have any chem dip at the moment. I'm prolly gunna dip them though.

Its about 16 bucks for a gallon of Berrymans chem dip at most stores.
Heck even my Walmart carries it.

                    Goodies!!!!

I'd say those handlebars are kind of out of whack... lol

The magnet bowl is an official bikebandit bowl. Got it by google searching bikebandit promo codes... lol Always google search promo codes when buying anything off the internet...

I just ordered some weird looking bar ends. I dont know how I feel about them yet but I think the standard bar end makes handlebars look too long. We shall see how they look once the come in the mail. This is an Ebay pic....

                    Opinions?

                    And this is just because....

You should of put the 750 cluster on, much nicer look. I really didn't need a fuel gauge as big as a clock, there for it was swapped to the 750. I like it much better.

Honestly I never thought of a pre 750. Hell I didnt even know it looked different. I know alot of the other suzuki gaugues wont work because they are partially electric. **Googling 750 gauges now...** I got a pretty decent gauge cluster but Im not satisfied... Plus I got a new phone so the phone mount doesnt really do me all that good. I still got the old phone though. It will remain my music device until i find something different

750's have a small fuel gauge in the center. Much cleaner look.

I checked it out. I dont know though. It definitely looks better, but I really like my LEDS and want something I can convert to get rid of those 1980's ATV lights. I think they are hideous.

This is turing into a decent sized thread, so for those of you just tuning in, or forgot what my gauges look like, refer to post #1.

I completely removed the light bar in the pre6 cluster. I dont like the smoked glass look. too retro. I covered it with a phone mount and used stainless steel LED bulb holders.

Even if I completely eliminated the phone mount (which i dont want to do) I would have a hell of a time filling the wholes where the lights are at the bottom of the 750 gauges, as well as the blinker holes as the top. I used fiberglass on some broken parts of the pre cluster and it was a bitch. I guess if I were to come by one for next to nothing than I would definitely tinker with it but it's alot of work and Im not patient enough.
