  • Fuel Injected 82 Katana

Well, after taking a long break from bike building, I've decided to finally start on another vintage katana. This will get similar upgrades as my other 82 Katana except this bike will be fuel injected and Im shooting for an even better weight reduction.

    Planned mods:
2008 Bandit 1250 motor swap with fuel injection
    Braced frame
    ZRX1100 swingarm
    Marchesini 5 spoke rims
    Brembo brakes and masters
    Aprilia Mille USD front end
    Sachs dual rear shocks
    Underseat exhaust
    Custom dash with SPA speedo/tach
    Carbon fiber body work

I had been in the process of starting on this bike some time ago, but shelved it not being sold on using another b12 motor. I finally sold off the b12 in favor of picking up a bandit 1250 lump. I think this will be the first 1250 Ive seen swapped into a vintage kat. As soon as the motor arrives I'll start posting up pics.

Well, after a long wait, my motor finally showed up and it was worth the wait. While the seller had only listed the motor on ebay, when he shipped it to me, he included the header, throttle bodies, full harness and hose set, throttle cables, air box, and a bunch of other goodies including a custom engine stand. Not bad considering it was significantly less than most of the 1250 bare motors listed. Finally, I can start fitting it to the frame!

You'll have to let us know how the 1250 mocks up compared to the oil cooled motors

Will do Steve. I still have the 98+ gsxf600 motor from my bodywork mule in the shop so Ill have to see how close the motor mounts and overall dims are compared to one another.

My suspicion is that they are very similar, since the UK got a 2006? Bandit 1200 that had the new body style, old motor.
