I purchased a pre 600 parts bike and robbed from it.

I would love to do this tail swap i like the 600 tail much more then the 750. On a scale of 1-10 how hard would you say the tail swap was???

Having someone with the tools and skills to plasma torch the brackets off and weld them right back on... it was pretty simple. If you can get that done, it's not that hard.

How did that exhaust setup you were planning turn out? It would be neat to see.

Also how do you like the Vance and Hines setup? I know you wanted stealthy but I'm curious since I just picked up the same exhaust. Will it work with stock jets an needles or is a factory pro set imminent? I've read mixed results on this question. Thanks and nice thread!

Many other projects have kind of put things on hold for this bike. Eventually I hope to get back with it, but right now it's my main ride.

The V&H SS (small round can) is loud, buzzy, and sounds like an angry bee. Not real fond of it, but it's what I got atm. I never did want to go with a single sided exhaust but with the other changes I made, it's the interim exhaust I have to use. I would definitely suggest a FP stage 1 kit with it if you have one.

I'm still working through some ideas but eventually I do hope to come back and revisit the exhaust setup on this bike more than just swapping out the can with a custom midpipe. I have a awesome sounding micron can (same type as installed on my wife's 750) and her bike sounds great. The plan was temp swap that one in until I have time to seriously address the exhaust (I'm still looking at an under tail custom system....).

That would be one hell of a how to thread! It would transform the look of the bike nicely, hopefully you get to it and get er done so we can see how much work goes into it..and what NOT to do!

I made it from flat sheet stock abs. I need to redo it... as my spring/rear shock was not up to keeping the rear tire out of it.

I think there was a link with a thread of me making it in the original post...

                            Just curious...

What is the current state of your bike? What mods have you done so far from your "modlist"?

I've ridden the heck out of it...

I've been on hold for that bike projects for the most part. I've been riding it, and worked on a few other projects including one for Zukifred's full bike rebuild putting his post 750 into a pre 600 frame.

It will probably be at least cold weather time before I come back to any serious down time for that bike.
