    Guess the season is over
    Rode on Saturday it was a balmy 2 C or 36 F.
I just knew it would be my last chance to ride this year.
Time to start taking things apart. I have a few plans for it this winter.
First I need to insulate the garage to keep the cold out.

What's the best way to lift the bike up to make it easier to work on?
I read those lifts for cruisers don't work because the exhaust is in the way
Could I make a gig to go around the exhaust to protect it and use one of those lifts? Or could I just take the exhaust off and lift it on the frame?

You can make a jig to work with the center lifts. You would need to remove the lower belly fairing of course.

The jig will also need to compensate for the kickstand mounting point on the lower frame. It sticks down as well and would get in the way.

If your garage has rafters that are exposed, you can just use ratchet straps to the frame to lift the bike. This is how I usually do it.

You can also make a pipe frame stand to lift the bike with as well, if you don't have the rafters.

Anything is possible, just have to imagine it.

Not a Kat but still kinda cool. Add on some studs or chains...

28 sounds nice I was just talking to my son and it's minus 18 up north at his university. Back to the earlier you could get a bike lift from princess auto cheap but works well.

I have a grand sceam cooking in my head. I have bartered for a cherry picker already. I just gotta pick it up. I also have 2 steel plates made for pulling engines by the carb screws (I think) I'm gunna bolt em together so there's a hook on each side. Acquire (4) 1000 lb ratchet straps. With the ratchet straps I can adjust for a correct length at each corner or any motorcycle. Adjust straps, hook it to my lift plate, pump cherry picker. I will have to fab a front tire holder on the frame of the cherry picker to keep the bike straight, then ratchet strap the back wheel to each foot of the cherry picker with some cheapos n bam... Bike lift.
