    I agree, by next riding season, make sure you have some good gear. Depending on what you need or want theirs websites you can get stuff for cheap that will save your arse

    Quickstop w/ the front brake, as long as you squeeeezzzzeeee the front brake , not just quick slamming it down.

    Just get the weight of the bike shifted forward than you can brake hard with both brakes at that point because the front is stronger.
    Downshift as you do this and you can pull out of any situation, because unfortunately depending upon where the person behind you was, would have determined whether or not you could have done a quickstop there, or if you would have needed to swerve and or accelerate to avoid a rear collision....

    Must be in tune with the road, other vehicles, road surface and conditions at all times I basically ride around like anyone is capabale of the unthinkable at any moment and i better be able to react to it or prevent it

      Glad you came out relatively unharmed. You'll just have another few hours work on fixing up your bike. It's all good considering.
