  • Dohhhhh

So I'm taking the boy to school this morning and at a light the Kat dies..
    The boy is worried.
    "Oh oh??!"
Me: "No problem, we just ran out of gas, I'll switch to reserve"
    Him: "cool"

We putt down the road a few miles when, spuuter sput sputter sput..

    Oh oh......
    We were on reserve...
I coast into a parking lot and consider my choices..
First off I'm letting the Kat coast us as close to a gas station as the parking lot and intertia will allow.. (still a 1/2 mile away)
I open the tank just to make sure.. yup I can see the tank bottom...
I shake the bike back and forth a bit and switched to Prime..
The bike started and I hurried to the gas station..
Good thing we left for school early...

So even after all these years... DOH!!!

It was good we had the intercom action going..
He was actually worried the bike would fall over if the engine quit..

I've gotten into the habit of immediately heading to a gas station when I hit reserve. A lot of times, I'll fill up once the fuel starts getting low if it's convenient. I don't want to end up pushing this heavy thing! Glad you didn't have to either.

                      Peter,

I don't know if Austin is humid at all, but if it is, make a habit of hitting gas stations on the way home whenever you go out riding. If the fuel tank is full, there isn't much air space for condensation and you are far less likely to end up with significant water at the bottom of the tank to rust it out as the years go by...

                      Cheers
