$2000 in damage!!!!!!

I just got off the phone with the insurance adjuster. My bike has a grand total of $2000 in damage. Well....his words were, "right around $2000". They are not going to scrap it, which means my bike has to be worth more than the $3-3500 I thought it was worth, cuz they would not dump $2k into a bike only worth $3k.
The good new is that my bike is already fixed. I did it the other day cuz I was tired of running around with a busted mirror and flasher. He saw them and tried to con his way out of paying for them, but I just pulled out my registration for my 92 and told him those parts are from my other bike, and they are going back on it after mine is fixed.
Brand new mirror, flasher, lower fairing, clutch handle. it's all done except for the tail section. So I just made a sweet $2k in my pocket for this bs.....minus the cost of a new tail section and what what little I paid for the parts on ebay. I will buy another to replace my cracked one. It should leave me with at least $1500 in my pocket.
Pretty sweet, huh? My bike will go up for sale as soon as the paperwork is all done for $3k. It means I will get $4500 cash for a 93 that I only paid $3500 for 3 years ago. can't complain about that!

I think from now on, any time I want to sell a bike, I will strategicly locate in a parking lot near old ladies who can't see past their nose to get even more from it...lol.

I just had the estimate emailed to me.
care to take a guess at what a new tail section costs at a dealers here in canada? would you believe $781?
$248 for the mirror. (paid $60 for a new one on ebay)
$148 for a flasher ($20 on ebay)
$38 for a bar end (just scuffed...it will just be painted...needed it anyway)
$18 for a clutch handle (already had one)
the upper fairing was over $1000...it only had a very little scratch from the fall...very easily hidden.....they give me $330 and i keep it like it is.
$300 to fix up my lower fairing (bought both lowers like new on ebay for $120)
the rest is labor and taxes.

I asked if this will effect my rates. the answer was no because I am not liable. totally cool!

ok with me, as long as the midget is insured and is held responsible.

what really helped was having a good bud who did the estimate for me. He just wants $100 to do it. I even asked if he was sure...and he said "hell ya...it's your bike and you can fix it". the dealer or a stranger would never agree to that. they would insist on completing the job.

don't bother trying to talk her into it. viagra works on women too, so just slip it into her (insert name of old fart beverage here...I think ensure is one). she will get all hot and flustered and probably hit serveral vehicles in the lot. just strategicly locate yours to be one of them.

the 92 stays...i will not sell that one.

the 93 is undetermined as of yet. one minute i want to sell it, the next i don't. so if someone comes and makes me an offer and i say no, it would be in their best interest to come back a bit later and make it again if they want it....or just offer enough to makes me say yes the first time.
if someone took me up on my offer to sell it a few days ago for $2k, they would have gotten one sweet deal. that deal has expired, naturally, since the ins will give me the $2k

the 83 would be bought straight out....and if it is still at there, i will go make an offer once the ins check comes in. i would NEVER make a deal where my 93 trades even for an 83....although it is tempting.
