  • Electrolysis on exhaust?

has any one ever tried to use electrolysis on a rusty header and mid pipe?

Based on the process used it seems like it would work.

Any idea how long it would take?

My thought is that you'd need a big enough container to immerse it in.

Ive used large plastic totes from walmart for doing larger car parts. If you trust your battery charger, I like to leave them in over night. 8-10 Hours.

The real question is, how do I get my car in and out of my swimming pool?

I've used electrolysis to remove the rust off my headers.
Used a plastic garbage can as rust was almost all the way to the can, took about 3 days to get all the rust off.

It will work for any non stainless steel item, doesn't matter the size.

Post pics when you do this! I want to see what you put it in...

Naturally, you could go the other route, and simply convert the existing rust to hematite or magnetite using a rust-converter. If the rust is particularly bad, this option may be better, as it will add strength instead of removing material...
