I still say do it. I would be proud to ride a bike with a frame that I made.

AWESOME idea Kreylyn. I've been tossing this up for months after reading about a mob near where I live that do custom frames in aluminum. They specialise in early Harley frames and punch them out for about $500. I'd be so keen to see someone do it themselves. Double thumbs up.

This is a Kat forum right?

i dont mean for you to take offence?
you posted a thread that was obviously gonna get filled with opinions and ideas - my opinion was that you were setting out to build a **** by reversing what suzuki had done in putting a **** engine in a steel frame and toning down the power
if you have taken offence to that or it has upset you somewhat - appologies, but this is an open forum and people will post opinions, i didnt come in and say - hey what a dumb idea, why dont you just buy a **** - i offered an opinion on what i see it as you trying to do - and then went on to give you an idea of using the alloy tubular frame design similar to what harris did with barry sheenes rg500 - an idea i thought would be pretty cool, keeping the original katana's looks but having a glimpse of shiny tubular frame poking out and showing theres more than meets the eye to that gsxf?

fail to see how in that you see im hijacking your thread not everyones gonna like your ideas in life tbh i never said i didnt like your idea
i pitty the fool that dont ride oldskool

Ya know kreylyn i know how you feel. I am always thinking of ways i can improve my bike. people always tell me just buy a gsxr, and i despise that answer because just buying a gsxr takes all of the fun out of it!.

building a bike (car, guitar, go kart, ect) is not about performance or even about the money compared to buying new.(cause its really about the same) its about the satisfaction of completing a project. what happened to the guy who would build rebuild a camaro or mustang in his free time?

if it were not for my bike i don't know where i would be! prolly out on the streets doing god knows what types of drugs and cheap women. my brother and all of his friends all ways ask me when ill be done with the bike and when ill sell it to get a new one. I always reply with... along as I'm alive i will be working on this bike, it gives me things to do with my free time. so I'm not wasting it on drugs and cheap women. it keeps me off the streets and a respectable man.

oh yeah! carbon frame would be cool too BTW! along with carbon wheels!
