  • OHLINS SU8020 special buy 98+ KATANA 600 & 750

[edit] before you call mike, PM cyberpoet - he's now an ohlins dealer and has them a few bucks cheaper !

mike murray has agreed to offer a special direct buy o the su8020, this shock is being discontinued and he has a few left.

here is his response to me:

"We can do a direct buy. I have 8 left I believe and I could sell all
of them for $320 shipped to the US. You could put my number and e-mail
up if you want so they can contact me. After these 8 though, there will
not be anymore in the US. They aren't making these anymore. The new
ones are going to be around $850. Let me know if I can be of anymore
    help.
    Mike"

IF YOU WANT A NEW SHOCK ACT FAST !
Any questions or comments can be sent to me at [email protected] or by calling 828-692-4525.

once you start to really push the bike - you'll hate to have missed out on this deal.

many people say the best thing you can do - before pipes, jetkits etc. is get the suspension setup right.

But the 98+ is pretty much the same shock , is it not ? Hmmm , I have this early '90's GSXR1100 shock I'm not using yet . Maybe if someone who couldn't afford the Ohlins but maybe wanted THIS one instead ....

i had progressive springs in my last bike (ninja). i liked them - they feel softer on small bumps but 'stiffen up' over bigger bumps. i can see the plus & minuses. i think i'm going to go for emulators and straight rate springs ( come fall or winter project ). need to look into a fork brace too.

Ok, call me a idiot or whatever, but what exactly are the positives of having this spring versus a different aftermarket one. I know I need better suspension on my bike with as big as I am, it just seems like this is a lot of dinero.

                        Thanks for any insight

Ok, idiot . the kat is a cheap bike ( not expensive ) built with cheap parts. the ohlins ( and many other aftermarket shocks ) are just better - better pistons/valving & springs + when they get a bunch of miles on them you can get them rebuilt.

basically they will keep the rear tire in contact with the pavement WAY better than the stock shock.

now this shock ( SU8020 ) is a very good shock but it's not the best that they make for our bikes.

money back is a hard thing to get - but i'd e-mail him and ask maybe for a set of fork springs.
