  • My Kat can swim!

I rode to work yesterday and both ways had a total downpour. The Kat did well , but I noticed what sounded like valve tapping toward the end of my ride home. Today, when I rode to work, I didn't hear it...could it have been cused by the rain?

Any off- chance you may have a leaky gas cap. Try running a higher octane in it next time just to see. I've never had that problem and I've been through some nasty stuff. Someone here might know how to test for one.
sigpicLife throws you curves......enjoy the ones you get when riding.

I'll check and see, but it is the same tank of gas with no problem this morning. Maybe I was just hearing things...

I just did an oil change a couple of weeks ago.

I'd be more inclined to believe it's because of the chain losing lube to the rain... but of course, there could always be something totally unrelated to the rain at work, such as the need for a valve adjustment (although typically valve chatter is at the worst when the engine is cold).

              Cheers,

I've ridden MANY thousands of miles in the rain . this year is the first time I've ever had problems . It's a motor vehicle , and as such is designed to be able to withstand the elements , or something .

My bets are with CP, loss of lube causing more drivetrain noise is the only thing that seems to make sense.

By riding between the rain drops?

                      Cheers,
