Why is it that aftermarket parts seem to be more expensive for kats than other bikes? I looked at comparable turn signals for the kat and a gsxr and the kat parts were way more...Is it because they aren't making them now or what?

There are more noobs on the road with GSXR's with money to blow. They make parts for the uber popular bikes (CBR, ZX, GSXR, etc.). has to be a worthwile investment for a company to design a part. would you design a part that fits 70% of the sportbike scene or a part that fits rought 3% of that same scene? economics my dear watson!!!

looking for fronts, eventually. Bought this bike almost a month ago after it was laid down (got it for a song). I am trying to fix her up with some love. I think she was abused by previous owner and i have aspirations of being her motorcycle whisperer.

yeah its all about supply and demand....

the more demand for a part (gixxers cause there tons) the more supply there gonna make which in turn lowers the price..... (also competititon... all the producers want a peace of the gixxer (sportbike) profits.....)

FastJetta hit it -- numbers sold. If I build an accessory for the GSXR market, it will outsell the same accessory for the Katana market by a factor of 8:1 or more typically, meaning I don't need to make as much profit per-piece to justify the initial investment required to design it, engineer it, test it, mass-produce it, stock it.

But it also depends heavily on what you're looking at.
A jetkit for Katana costs about the same as a jetkit for any other four-cylinder motorcycle engine out there.
An advancer for the Katana - same as for every other air-oil cooled Suzuki 4-cylinder.
Shift-kit: actually cheaper than most, because it doesn't include a new indent star that needs to be installed.
Corbin Saddle, 98+: actually cheaper than most dual-seat saddles out there.

If you're looking at blinkers, compare Hayabusa accessories -- they are generally the same and often interchangeable with the 98+ Kats.

This thread seems a bit odd to me, i's say at a guess 90% or more of the gsx parts are from other suzuki's anyway so its just a simple matter of working out what fits rather than looking for specific parts for your bike in some catalogue

The main exeption to the above is the bodywork (fairings) but for something as simple as a set of indicators just buy the aftermarket ones you like & fit them through a blanking plate over the original holes, Simple quick & easy unless you really have to make your bike totally stock looking

but is there anyway to find out if they fit w/o buying them, bringing them home and trying to fit them. besides it is really more of a way for me to b**h and moan.

Yeah, look up the OEM part numbers for your blinkers at RonAyers.com -- then pump that same part number back through the "where does this part fit?" box on their front page. It'll list every year & model bike that uses the same blinkers, so you can build a cross-reference list
