What lights up on your bike?

I sporting a 98 Kat...was wondering the other day if the turn signals are suppose to act as marker lights as well....or it in fact they are just signals. I could have just checked to see if they were a dual filament bulb, but I am being lazy.

I tried to wire mine for markers (95 750)
I got duel filiment LPs.. I never got them working right. Now I burned a bulb out early and can't find a replacement locally..

To change yours to marker/turns you will need to replace the bulb socket. This socket is special.
A marker/ turn bulb has not only two filiments but
two different wattages.
The socket is made so the bulb only goes in one way, that way the low watt filiment always connects to the marker.
(and the higher one to turn)
As the 98+ bikes have intergrated signals if you find a socket that works I bet lots would appreciate knowing about it.
Do a site search just to make sure you arn't re-inventing the wheel.

NOTE:
You will need to supply the marker wire with constant 12 V. If you look you may find the extra wire used for European models. (That is what I did)

One other thing, many states have laws that say all rear-facing lights must be red in color (I know this is the case here in MA)

If you rig up your rear turns to light up as markers then you run a risk of being pulled over and cited.

Maybe you can just get some of those old bolt on trailer lights taht are about 8 inches in diameter, and use those as marker lights

There are other solutions to creating running lights -- using electronic controllers that run lower power through the bulbs when they're not actively blinking.
