  • Cam Timing

Hello. I’m working on a 2000 Katana 600 (8,000 miles) that I recently bought as non-running (project bike)
Compression is low (80 dry/ 110 w/oil in cylinder.). When I pulled the head cover I adjusted the signal generator to check the cam orientation (timing) & the exhaust cam was slightly off (8 oclock instead of 9.) Would this cause low compression? Guessing since there was 30 psi diff that the rings will have to be done either way. Intake was dead on.
My previous experience was w/a gs500, & the cams had to be perfect. Curious to hear from those in the know if camshafts can be a little off.
    thanks!
