Chain and sprocket suggestions

Ok now that i got my exhaust, well still waiting for shipping, i wanna change my rear and front sprockets for more acceleration and torque as i dont use the top end. I've done 120mph a few times but have no need for it.

I've heard 1tooth up in rear 1 tooth down in front. Can anyone suggest a good brand to buy. Also i want to get a great chain to replace my stock one. Thanks

depends what you want. more torque or more top end?

If you are going to do that, do one or the other first and look at the results. Change the front sprocket to a 14 and guage results. If you still do not like, then you can add a tooth to the rear. I wouldnt change both at the same time. Be aware that when you make one or both of these sprocket changes, your RPM's will go up, and this will result in more fuel consumption.

you could go +2( i think) in the rear and not touch the front

alittle fuel consumption loss is no big deall....will still be better than my 69' chevelle that gets 7mpg

I have a 600 03 and went -1+2 I think? Now it is 14/49. It's faster but if your changing for wheelies you might want something more, some one said some thing about a 54 tooth rear? I had a hard time finding anything over 49. Try sprocket specialists or some thing like that they were going out of bussines awhile ago and I got my vortex for like 20.00 cheaper cause thats all they had left. Well good luck.

i've heard a lot of bad things when i was looking at the vortex sprocket. it's made of 7075 ( i think ) aluminum and has NO hardening. at minimum the sprocket specialist has a t6 hardening.

because i'm lazy - i went 15-50 ( stock is 15-47 on my bike ) so the stock chain of 118 links is a bit small - most aftermarket chains will come 120 which is perfect for the 15-50 combo, if you use a 14-47 you'll have to cut 2 links out.

where did you guys find that 49, i have a 48 on mien and if i could after i get use to this id ilke a 51 possibly for drag racing so i can just sawp my back wheel out on race day, alnog with my chain

check out sidewinder sprockets. The ti-moly or the tri metal. They are cutting edge sprockets. I just ordered one. I haven't quite figured out the gearing yet, I know I will have to change the front, cause the rear is not stock gearing, but I think they are great sprockets and they last a long time too.

ok got my pipe..installed...sounds really cool , BUT wasnt as loud as i thought it would be. No biggie. Im happy enough. Expecially since i didt pay for the pipe. my dad bought it for me cause he couldnt stand to NOT hear it. He's had nothing but muscle cars and old triumphs since he was a kid.
