  • Track days...

Who's done them? Who hasnt? Are you planning any for this spring b/4 the gap trip, or maybe you're planning on doing several during the coming year.

Any advice for the newb track day riders who are planning on taking this up for the first time ?

Never have . As far as I know , there aren't any tracks nearby . Plus it sounds like it might be kinda pricey , too .

Around here your looking at $100-150/day, going by last years prices. This also depends on the number of riders.

The only rules I know of are

          tires must have 70-75% tread
Full leathers, 1 Pc or 2 Pc with a full 360 waist zipper
No antifreeze in the rad, not a problem for Kat riders
Most also state you must have a Back protector
Rear signals must be removed, front ones taped over along with head lights.
Also some places required you tape over your speedometer.

Other than that, trailering your bike is a good idea, "just in case". Bring your own shade (umbrella), and have lot's of mater on hand.

One important thing I've found out the hard way is to bring your own gas!!!! Only gas available is usually racing fuel (too much for non-race bikes) and way overpriced. Tools are another necessity along with painters tape to tape off your plastic/glass. Find someone good to help safety wire hard parts (oil pan bolt, brake calipers, exhaust hanger bolts and shock bolts for starters)

It actually has been a year this month since I did a track day at Phoenix International Raceway. unless you get a instruction it cost nothing. Also Firebird Raceway here are some pics of Firebird:

Im planning on getting in atleast 1 track day this summer, hopefully b/4 the gap, but not sure if I'll have time, but we'll see.

I could meet you at that strip this summer, no problem. Maybe we can get gsxxx600 and the others too!
