1988 starter not engaging

just bought a big Kat in need of some love, first problem is the starter wont engage, spins good though. Any advice?

Starter spins? Do you hear a solenoid click and the spining? Just no spark? If you don't have spark have you checked your coils and/or your plugs themselves. Not sure what you have/haven't checked.
