'93 big Kat 1871 original miles need front calipers

  • '93 big Kat 1871 original miles need front calipers

    I picked up my big Kat this past sat and am going thru it. The front calipers are seized and so far other than having to replace the knarly rusted gas tank the bike is in better shape than anticipated. I should have it fired up by this weekend. Also it has a V&H supersport exhaust and I pulled the carbs, suprisingly clean also, and found the mains to be 117.5. Can some one tell me what stock jets are so I know if I need to order a jet kit from Factory-pro. i am assuming by the size of the collectors on this ex system that a stage 3 kit is in order. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance...

          The stock jetting on most US/CAN Katana 1100's is 112.5 (cylinders 1 & 4) and 110 (cylinders 2 & 3). The reason for the different jetting is that the center cylinders run hotter and therfore are jetted leaner from the factory.

          With and exhaust system and/or k&n filter (stock airbox) use Stage 1 jetting (or factory pro equivalent. Stage 3 is only for aftermarket exhaust and k&n pod filters on your carbs.

            Thanks for info. So I am assuming that with the larger jets that 117.5 is a stage 1 kit. So I will leave well enough alone, install a K&N filter and be done with the carbs.
