I am getting between 40 and 45 MPG on the open road. Then again I'm an older rider and the bike rarely gets much over 5000 RPM.

I've got some "weight gain steroids" for your wrist if you ever want to get it past that 5000 rpm plateau. That plateau is just about when that engine wakes up and gets fun.
