  • Motorcycle simulator for MARINES

Saw this on the news this morning here in Sunny San Diego.

It think its awesome that the military is doing everything they can to save lives for those of us who ride motorcycles. I hope they bring the simulator to the Navy side.

Also, here's a link showing fatality trends throught the military: http://safetycenter.navy.mil/present...pdate_8-08.ppt

Seems like the Marine Corps has a serious problem with their sportbike riders. Whats up with that?

Those in the marines are always doing stupid crap... I mean... they joined the marines for Pete's sake.

Seriously though. Doing idiotic stuff seems to go along with their training that's supposed to make them think of themselves as invincible. This chit is bound to happen so long as they continue to promote that mentality.

I am curious though, what the marines are doing that's keeping their deaths lower than Navy. Are there simply less Marines riding motorcycles, or is their training superior???

You can ask Scout too, but I don't recall anyone ever telling me that I was invincible. As a matter of fact, they're quick to tell you just how fast you're going to die if you eff up in even the most minute way. I pay little attention to statistics based on the findings of a single body. For every study that says one thing is true (or more likely, or biased in some direction) there are a dozen more saying a dozen different things. For instance, I expect the number of water related deaths/injuries is higher in the Navy- but I'd never say that's because they're poorly trained, or that their training gave them a "drown-prone" mentality. There are just more squid in the water is all.

No matter how much training they give us…those who want to ride dangerously will, and those who want to ride safely will.

I think alot of it pertains to the age, location of bases, and experience of of the groups too.
Out there and Jacksonville there are alot of vehicle accidents due to those long highways at night. I think its a great idea.

Dont get me wrong simulators are great for flying and things like that, but I dont think any simulator is actually going to do the job of getting out and riding. How are they going to simulate a low or high side? I agree that the military is doing a lot to help their motorcycle riders, me being one of them. I enjoy taking the MSF courses and am signed up for the new MSRC course offered, but I really doubt that a simulator is really going to help. You just cant simulate most things that take place while riding.

Wait a stinkin' minute...I'm NOT invincible????? I don't know what retard $hit they told you in 2nd. Bn...but everyone knows that 3rd Herd is unkillable!!!!!!!!! Yuuuutttt!!!!!!!

Seriously, I was told on a near daily basis, while in the fleet, that I was always "one bullet away." That was my Plt. Commander's way of reminding me that I was anything but invincible. And we had "school circle" talks about how that applied not only to combat, but to driving a car, riding a bike, flying on a plane, drinking to much, f*ckin' with recon etc. I think it may be "survivors high"...you know? Ya learn to live for those moments where you hear "the snap", where $hit is blowing up near you, where you're spreading hate and discontent in ample supply to the festering anti Americans. Maybe they just need an adrenaline fix, and are looking for it the fastest and easiest way they can.

And there isn't a bike dealer between L.A. and TJ that will tell a young Marine no. They know how to sell $hit to non-rate Marines, liscence or not.
