Whats the best way to start out kids w/ riding?

Start em out super young, like 5 or 6, get em on alittle 50cc ATV or Small dirtbike? or wait alittle bit till like 10 or so and get em out on a little 80cc dirtbike and let them hit the trails and tracks?

Was just thinking about this a week ago or so, at the dealer, when they had a bunch of little 50cc ATV's and dirtbikes sitting out and my son crawled his little butt right up on a little yamaha and started making the vvrroomm sounds and bouncing up n down!

Thats a tough question, I know my boss who has a couple of kids started off w/ a used 80 cc dirtbike when his kids were about 12 then got a 100cc. They seem to do fine with it but I guess it was kind of tough at first. They had some ballance form bmx racing but didn't completely understand the clutch and gear concept. It's really a tough call.

Good question. I'm looking at a 80cc dirtbike for BF for his birthday (damn, he read that). Anyway, it'll keep him riding off the streets so he gets used to what a bike can and can't do. No pocket bikes or scooters. Then we'll gradually move up.

The little quad when the oldest is big enough to stand on the boards and not still be sitting on the seat.

yeah, jesse's fit just barely touched the running pegs on the quad..but he sure was close to it though. He loves his big wheels and such now, so I know he'll love it when the time comes to step up to a real ride.

Yup - depending on the kids aptitude though.

They make a teather cord so you walk behind the kid and shut them down if they start going nuts. I think responsibility is something you can never start teaching too young.

Starts with picking up toys as soon as they can play with those toys.

I think, if I try real hard, i can squeeze on the little ATV w/ him, so he can learn with me right on the back!

my wife gets the same way..she's like, go to the store and get him some 3T pajamas or something ! Im like WHAT ??? or yeah, he's 36 months old??? He's 3 !!!

Joel will be 2 on March 4th and we will consider him in his horrable 2's. but heck who wants to rush their ages right.

I like their bike and I wish they made those when I was younger.
