  • Post Kat Shock Internals.

My Kat had a really stiff back end, and I thought it just needed adjusting. After talking with Tmod, I found out it was set really, really soft. Problem is, every bump would just about lift your *** off the seat. Pretty harsh. So I bought a slightly used stock shock (Thanks TMod!) and decided to cut the old one open to see what I could see, which was nothing. I DID find it only had a half inch of movement in it, but why I can't say.

    The shock

Top view, this end of the spring isn't tapered.

    Rebound on 2....harsh as hell.

Didn't have a spring compressor so I torched it.

Cut the tubes, just missed the piston.

Valve in the shock body....wasn't seized and it was clear.

    Piston on the shaft

    Piston off the shaft

Working...
