Houston Ride Trip Report
Maybe you Austin guys need to meet up in Houston
Started out the day at Starbucks of I-10 in Katy at 9AM. Was joined by a coworker on a Vulcan 800, then by crazyaussie, and finally by a friend on a Buell Firebolt. After stopping for the Buell to top off it’s tank and get a few pictures we headed out.
The route took us out I-10 west toward Seally, where we jumped on 36 through Bellville and Brenham, then onto Highway 6 into Navasota. We stopped here to have a brief meeting about the upcoming road, FM 3090. Houston may be flat, and my not have the best roads for motorcycling, but this is the exception. It’s 18 miles of fun. So during the discussion of the upcoming road the camera came out for a few more pics
After a couple runs through the wooded twists and turns and one of us hitting the reserve we headed out for fuel, both for the bikes and ourselves.
We then headed out Highway 30 into the Sam Houston National Forrest. Smooth roads and some refuge from the sun beating down on us. We stopped in New Waverly for a water break and discuss the ending of the ride. Our lead (Vulcan) was breaking off on the north side of Houston, while the remaining riders had to go through to parts further south west. Ofcourse more pics were taken
We then proceded down Highway 150 which intersected 59. The rain held off until everyone was nearly to their homes. We stopped one last time in Houston to top off the tank and begin conspiring on another ride. So until then thanks for the read, if you want to see all the pics go to http://gallery.restel.com/album226 . The map and directions for the trip can be found at http://borecam.restel.com/rides/Sunday.htm
There is video of the 3090 segment at http://fbcstuff.com/3090a.wmv and and http://fbcstuff.com/3090b.wmv (This one has NWS music)
