  • Helmet recomendations!

I just want to shre t=my personal experience with you all.

As many of you all know, I crashed my '06 GSX600F on Sunday 9/12/2010
I was wearing my helmet (Scorpion Exo-400)

My head hit a tree at 50-60 MPH and my body went flying thorugh the air and thorugh several rows of trees.
The helmet did crack , but ONLY the front vent openings. My head is fine (say the doctors). No damage (other than slight concussion) so I concider the Exo-400 to be a great helmet for the price, as it did it's job, and I am alive and here talking about it all.

I would buy another Scorpion Exo-400 if ever needed another helmet.

I have an HJC CL-16 model. And although it does not cost much I do expierience some wind noise at highway speeds. Ear plugs could lessen this. but I asked a specialist on the differences of most helmets and as far as protection he said they are mostly the same. Where the differences were was that some makes fit heads differently and also the sound proffing qualitys are better in some more than others. My next helmet purchase will be one that not only fits well but has a better sound proffing to it over the one I now use.

I can vouch for the EXO-400 as well.

            I've used HJC's, KBC's and Scorpion Helmets.

I like my scorpion the best.

My Brother got hit by a car riding his 08 zx6, he was riding with a group of friends on highway 33, and as he was passing a line of stopped cars, the lead car turned left in front of him, with the bike jammed between the cagers wheel and fender, matt gets sent flying over the hood, he lands right on his head and slides across the highway until he hits dirt and falls over.

He was fine, fully conscious the whole time, and managed to get up and walk away.

The fact that he was able to refuse treatment from the medics and firefighters says a lot about his mental state. In order for us to let someone walk away without an ambulance taking them we have to be sure they are oriented enough to refuse care, and then have them sign a release form keeping them from suing us for negligence.

            Anyway..

He tells me he was doing around 60-70 mph when he hit the car.

I trust the scorpion with my head. Plus they can be had dirt cheap, I got my exo400 for 70 bucks at motorcycle-superstore.com.
My girlfriend got hers at bike bandit for 43 bucks!

Both these deals are still going on I believe.

            Just my .02

Oh and bummer about your crash. Hope you heal up quick and get back on two wheels. I've seen other pics of your bike floating around here and it was truly one of a kind. Heal up so you can build something better!
