Got Field Armor knee/shin armor this morning. I did about 150 miles in them, with about 75% being highway. I wear full length Field Armour boots too. There was no issue with the shin guards interfering with the boots at all. They -do- get stiff after an hour or so, so it's a good idea to shift your ankle elevation to keep your knee from getting too stiff/sore. Overall they fit very well. I wore them over Under Armour pants and -under- a pair of jeans. There's a little learning curve about where they should sit so that the articulations work properly. They don't cover the knee in the riding position if they're directly over the knee in the standing position- so there's a medium you'll have to find. I'd buy them again, no doubt.

Malloc has been riding with a pair for about 3 - 4 years now, and I know for a fact that it saved his patella in a spill... If you ride in jeans or other non-hard-armored pants, it's a very, very wise investment.

After my accident, I realized the need for knee protection, but really don't want to wear full leather everywhere.-

He's wearing the Icon field armor (version 1), which was about the only choice out at the time he started wearing them outside of the Bohn choices (Bohn's were something like $350 at the time?).
Now there are a lot of other choices available, including ones like the Dainese Knee V that address his greatest criticism of icon's he uses -- that there is no real closure strap above the knee to keep them from settling downwards over hours of use or while walking. But he has gotten to the point that he feels naked riding without them, which is a huge plus in my book...
When it comes to Malloc, we must remember his slogan for anything he uses & approves: "Moron Tested, Idiot Approved"

I've worn them outside the last two rides- it's easier to readjust them that way. But if you're going up and -staying- there you can wear them under jeans and not have to worry about settling. Like CP said- it's walking about that gets them shifting. Easy math for me- less work to readjust a strap than to rehab a shattered knee.__________________
