  • I Mounted my Cortech Saddlebags... Under my Saddle.

I figured out a way to mount my bags straps under the seat and over the grab bar, rather than over the seat ... Because my wifes a$$ was sliding every turn when she sat on the straps ... Too much of a difference in comfort with a Corbin saddle with straps covering the dang thing ... Here are some pics of how I did it ... Works great now ...

The wide strap kept binding in the lock ... This pencil was the answer ... I wedged it under the locking mechanism to hold the strap down from binding it up... Took 2 hours to get the strap length to be just right though ... Now it takes just minutes to put on and take off ...

The front wide strap is extended to the edges with lots of slack... Make sure that the Neoprene protects any point where the bag or strap would touch any paint... or it may not be too nice later...

    Front straps to tiedown bars...

Rear straps to signals... Make sure they are not covered over ...

Enough space between the bag bottom and the exhaust would be a good thing too...

Then just add the seat ...

and it is all done... No strap to sit on at all ... All is GOOD now ...

I just hope that I could help somebody with all of this ... and that this photo essay wasn't too freakin large ...
The Only bad thing is that those bags cover up my new KatRiders decals ...

That's exactly how I have my Nelson Rigg bags setup when I go for trips with Katie on the back. Nice work!

I've got the tailbag but I hate the way the tiedowns dig into the sides of the bike and scratch it up. I went low budget for now and cut up a back rag to cover the bungies...

Nice post Jaxkat. I have thought about buying the cortech saddlebags but, only if they could be mounted under the seat. I wouldnt want to have to carry them with me every time I got off the bike just to keep some dirtbag from steeling them. Thanks for the info and pics!

Looks good! Would you have been able to mount it with a fender eliminator kit or chopped shovel?

The front straps could loop to the passenger foot peg guard ... and just loop the back ones to eachother under the fender eliminator ... That might work ...
I will work on that when I do the partial chop .

I like the underseat idea but I dont like how they are sitting on the turnsignals like that. Might be ok if when the bags are empty but I think if they were full and heavy (say 10-15lbs in each??) that it may put alot of stress on the lights and maybe crack them off.
Have you noticed any issues like that with full bags and rough roads to exacerbate the issue??
              I love my Kat!!

Looks good... my only suggestion would be to find somewhere else to attach those rear straps. I think the rear turn signals are only held on by compression fittings.... by that I mean a screw tightening down on a bit of rubber. It wouldn't take much to pull the signals out...

I really don't like how they sit on the indicator lights. Short soccer mom in a huge suv tailgating you probably won't see them

Ive had afew sixpacks in them with no probs... Thats heavy weight ... The fender just flexxes, it's not real brittle... I haven't seen any stress on the signals at all... As for being seen ... YES... My wife and I checked that out in the test ride... with her following me in her "SUV"... said my signals were very clear and bright 8) ... No problems seeing my intentions ...

As for Tailgators ... I have a feeling that she will see my big RED brakelight ... If not my wife has a reflective road sign on the back of her jacket that say's: "BACK OFF BUCCO!" That'll do it for sure ...
