  • another 1991 gsx750f wiring issue

    First time post,
    working on a 91 750 katana for a friend
just did the carbs, new battery (this bike is in rough shape)
    NO SPARK on either coil
ive got 12v at the coils
i tested each wire from the computer to the coil for resistance, grounding, and shorts with the other wires going to the other coil.
    cleaned my ground
    ordered another "ignition box"
    tested the signal generator
tach reads 6k as soon as you turn the ignition on and during cranking
    with either either "ignition box"

    any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Aaron Englert

How did you test the signal generator? it sounds like the signal generator. If your testing by resistance, that can be misleading. Does it look melted or heated?

Inspect it first, if it looks like it was overheated. Replace it. I ran into the same issue on a members 750 bike that the alternator over volted the electrical system, everything looked good, resistance wise. I still suspected the pulse generator and I swapped one from another bike and it started.
