wiring woes

Hi All

I hate to be the guy that joins a forum and immediately asks for help but i have to be THAT guy
as mentioned in my introduction I am the proud owner of a GSX 600 FX
Bought as a non running project
it was tatty and down troden,
Now i have had the seat recovered
the body work repaired and repainted in BMW silver
got all the lights working etc

BUT I still have no spark!!!
I have stripped all the tape off the loom and seperated and traced each wire looking for damage (found one)
But to no avail
the bike looks like it once had LED lights as there was a diode bridgeing the rear flashers this is now removed, there were a few junction blocks these have now been removed and soldered.
i have power to the coils
i have the correct CDI unit
i have 1/2 a packet of cigarettes
but i have no spark!!!!!

What i have found though is behind the right fairing there is a multiplug,
behind the left rear pod there is a two prong multi plug that links into the other plug mentioned above.
Is there a component missing?
Should i get more cigarettes?
should i start cooking meth?

Are there two thin wires coming out of the clutch lever? No, then, is there a yellow/green wire under the tank plugged into another yellow/green wire? There may be a free yellow/wire under there as well. If they are connected to each other swap to the free yellow/green wire (from the heads talk to that wire, it may have the clutch safety bypassed). Is the side stand wire plugged in and does the switch function properly? What is the pulse generator ohms? Does it look melted? What are your coil resistances?

Doesn't sound like it. Unless the clutch safety was pulled from the lever and not bypassed.

So are the multi plugs that i found just spares?

After some thought.... Clutch safety prevents starter operation. Sidstand kills the engine if in gear and down.. So, check the side stand circuit and relay. And the pulse generator (pick up coil).

I would use weed and coke instead of meth. all the energy and focus without the garbage. and yes, more cigs too

I think that maybe the crank shaft sensor has failed hence no spark, trouble is these bikes seem to be pretty rare in this country. What is the spares situation like on the other side of the pond?

There isn't a crank sensor anywhere on a Kat, it's the pulse generator/ pickup coil. I told you to check the pulse generator/pickup coil. Procedure is in the manual. If it fails you have no spark. That is the Kat ignition timing as well.

Although I would highly recommend buying a new one. It doesn't take much to burn one out. Usually overly high voltage does the damage.
